I got me a new helmet!
It's from their 2011 collection, so it should get to you soon.

This is quite nice, from SOL (also distributed as GMAX).
What got me buying it was the removable chin bar.

I was looking at the Nolan N43, but I have an oval head, so the fit was kinda off...

SOL came in with basically their own version of it.
I like the fact that you can order it in flat black, and the decals are not obnoxious!

It's got an internal sun shield that's very dark and quite big too... covers nicely.

And the best.... it's under 100 bucks around here!

I have to say that that's not a bad lookin' helmet that seems to have a lot of nice features on it, and all for a very good price, Jeff.

Though, I have to admit I'm havin' a little problem with the name of its manufacturer..."S.O.L."!!!

(...yep, I sure hope if you happen to end up in the future having any problems at all with your S.O.L. helmet, that the company's acronym doesn't also somehow reflect upon their attitudes toward any warranty exchange and/or replacement policies TOO!!!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I too have a problem with the name, although for different reasons

The firm I work for were part of SOL construction until the owners decided to sell it all to a firm called ROK, who are the biggest bunch of lying b@stards you could come across and are that modern they are trying to reintroduce serfdom to its workers

S.O.L. comes from "Shine On Life".

Companies here have a sweet spot for those little pretty sentences, everywhere!

From scooter slogans to bags of cookies!

For example, from the bag of cookies I have in front of me now, copied as is:
"Fabulous Fragrant Crispy Entry: Best Tasty, Excellent Dose of Delicious Food, Crispy Crispy Good Flavour."

SOL would be distributed around the world under the "GMax" label.

From webbikeworld acclaimed GM68S, helmet of the year in 2007:

It's not the opening that is starting to restrict my vision....

It's the love of beers and all good things (to eat) .... It's starting to impair my vision of the road under me! ha ha!

It is a flashing LED... not that I use it though... but, you never know...

I like the vents, living in a place that usually gets up to 38C and 100% humidity in summer...

We do get up to similar temps and humidity but not for the last couple of years. Our climates seem to be changing. A lot of rain at the moment and not quite Summer yet. Not good motorcycling weather right now.

Personally I'd be leery of the flip down night shield, a friend if mine wiped out last year and was nearly killed because the night shield in his G-max helmet dropped down in the middle of a twisty section at about1 a.m. effectively blinding him mid turn. I'm not knocking G-max... just double shields in general. i will say the LED's are a great idea.
