I would like to ditch the speedometer on my 06 BA but I want a way to keep track of the actual miles that are on the bike total and have a trip odo as well.I would like to have this mounted somewhere out of the general line of sight but conveniant to see while riding so I know when to fill up.Any ideas?

Sigma BC 1106....bike speedometer used one on my "new" Indian when the speedo went........I mounted it by the right handle bar controls...you wouldn't notice it was there....racked up around 30,000 miles on it...max speed of the unit was 180 mph (not the bike !!!)

how about every time you fill up you add 125mi to a tally that you keep on a greasy piece of paper in your wallet.

Bill....Bill.... I got one......What about using a piece of cardboard stuck to the console. Velcro a sharpie to the board and use it in 125 mile increments as stated. Tally the totals to be used as a fancy GHETTO trip odometer.

WOW you guys are harsh man. You can go down to a speed shop. There usually a lot of them in bigger towns. and get a small one that has a mounting bracket. Like tey use on the local racecar track on the modified class cars. they are completely calibrate-able (for lack of a better word).
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

You could also go and pickup an hour meter.Mount it so it comes on with the ignition. Then every so many hours change your oil or do your maintence.

When you get home, check Google Maps for the mileage of your ride.

I like the hr meter idea.I am also thinking of the total mileage accumulated if I were to sell the bike down the road.Mtnmans speedo in dash might just be the best way to go.

How about something like this easy to mount straight to the bars, and screws straight to our cable

I mounted a Koso Speedo in the console for the same reason...to get rid of the Giant Speedo and to have an odometer to help with fuel status. The rest of the story is included in this thread.Works great for me. Cheers, Steven

I really like that instrument Steven mounted up in the console too! Admittedly I would have preferred an analog readout to a digital one I have with my Acewell, but the stock speedo is gone, which is the main objective!
