I got one......What about using a piece of cardboard stuck to the console. Velcro a sharpie to the board and use it in 125 mile increments as stated.
Tally the totals to be used as a fancy GHETTO trip odometer. 
Jeez, he never gave me that kind of sweet advice when I was talking about elevators...
