ENOUGH ALREADY!!
I want this to end. The troll has had enough time to get his jollies by abusing the kindness and openness of the members of this forum. ENOUGH!!
What's an Internet Troll?
The term derives from "trolling", a style of fishing which involves trailing bait through a likely spot hoping for a bite. The troll posts a message, often in response to an honest question, that is intended to upset, disrupt or simply insult the group.
Why do Trolls do it?
Most trolls are sad people, living their lonely lives vicariously through those they see as strong and successful.
Disrupting a stable newsgroup gives the illusion of power, just as for a few, stalking a strong person allows them to think they are strong, too.
For trolls, any response is 'recognition'; they are unable to distinguish between irritation and admiration; their ego grows directly in proportion to the response, regardless of the form or content of that response.
Trolls, rather surprisingly, dispute this, claiming that it's a game or joke; this merely confirms the diagnosis; how sad do you have to be to find such mind-numbingly trivial timewasting to be funny?
How can troll posts be recognised?
- No Imagination
- Repetition of a question or statement. Such as the friggin' wife innuendos repeated here as in 11 times in one day. (easy stat to gather using Search) and his "do you need a tissue?" bs.
- Missing The Point - Trolls rarely answer a direct question.
- Thick or Sad. They rarely make what most people consider, intelligent conversation.
Where are you likely to find trolls?
Wherever they are tolerated - this means forums and networking sites that have loose or easy going moderation.
In little over 24 hours this guy has managed to upset the equilibrium here to the point where there's bickering and senseless infighting. And there is little doubt that this a$$hat is gloating over all of this.
This guy has sent me unsolicited pms, one of which was inflammatory... all were uncalled for. His posts contain absolutely NO social or practical merit and in NO way contriube anything positive.
There... I believe I just said what a whole lot of us want to say. This Troll is UNWANTED and UNWELCOME and I encourage his account be axed, and if that's not possible then for Gawdsake everyone... IGNORE this guy! Stop replying to his posts!!!! It's what TROLLS NEED TO KEEP GOING!!!
