I have always had a gremlin bell(the only bike I had without one was a goldwing and I layed that down at 65), and I know other riders who have had them, but in speaking with a friend who rides...He said he had never heard of them...Just wondering....how many of you ride with one???

You should never, ever buy your own birchr. When you buy your own there is no magic. The magic of the gift is what makes the gremlin have an interest in checking it out. Once inside the bell he looses his power and falls to the street after the ringing destroys his evil presence.

I don't believe, but I have one on my bike. My wife bought it as a gift, and there's no way I couldn't avoid putting it on under those circumstances.

Now that's a Gremlin. One of the true American Classics. Such lines! So reliable!
But how do you hang one on your bike?

Haven't heard of them yet. I have a pin that my dingbat sister in law sent me on my bike though. She said it was a Garden Angel. It's worked so far, even though there are no vegtables on my bike, no fruits either, by the way. TR

Have had them for years, always bought for me,save for one(explanation to follow), the wife has furnished them for the last few bikes as I always leave them with the bike whether trading in or selling it..... Now, do I believe in them? Well I'll believe in anything till it bites me in the arse. Case history.... Three motorcycle accidents in my past, first one I was very young AND very drunk BUT I had a bell, bought by ME. Second accident, no bell, but it wasn't my bike. Third one and the worse, bike DID have a bell but it wasn't on it at the time. I had removed it when the bike was having some major work done on it and I hadn't put it back on yet. You decide.... is that the theme from the Twilight Zone I hear or is the ringing in my ears getting worse?
Of course, now it is all a mute point as you see, if you talk about it you jinx it.....

I've had bells on my bikes since my '49 Triumph. I've had mostly hardtail bikes and they ride so hard I need the bell so I can tell when I'm on rough pavement.

I've got one, from a friend, and so far nothing bad has happened on this bike. I'm not going to go as far as to say that it prevented bad luck, but it might have. I'm not going to mess with karma on this.

?(think of that as ONE BIG question mark)
Is there ANY logic in what you've just said?
Okay! Alright! I'll go along with ya here.....
(Now imagine our friend glazer here played by a young William Shatner[even though glazer ain't a Canadian] and in the opening scene he's looking at what seems to be some kind of a talisman affixed to a motorcycle.
A man talking through his teeth and holding a cigarette appears as somewhat of a ghostly figure just off center of the picture and begins to talk)
"Submitted for your approval. Chicago resident and Triumph enthusiast, a man know to all as "glazer", is about to attempt a jump of logic. But what this biker doesn't realize, is that HIS jump's landing will be detoured right into (yep...you guessed it)...The Twilight Zone!"

I got a Lincoln Imp badge....I got told by my grandmother that I really shouldn't wear it as he's supposed to be bad luck...but I don't believe that. However I don't believe he brings me good luck either...

This is just my thoughts on the Gremlin subject. I do believe in tradition, and a gremlin bell is about as much tradition as it gets with bikes as long as I have known. So if you believe in the magic or not, tradition does make a difference to some of us. I have some small ones I give to anyone that gets a new bike (new or new used). Somehow I just never seem to get one from anyone else, but put one of mine own on my bike. So the power is not there, but I do follow a tradition of many years for all makes and models of bikes. Triumph is included in this tradition: at some time when I have one given to me, it will be put on and the one I have now will be taken off. Let the karma, magic and tradition flow Grasshopper.

I agree! I put it there for the tradition...and if the magic works or not....it sure can't hurt!

I had never had one but some guys at work here got me and a friend one because I always wanted one.. I think it is a harmless tradition but don't really believe in the good luck. Mine had an angel on it so I call it a Guardian Angel Bell. I gave one like it to Angelis and one with a wolf on it to Donny. Need I say more. You old wolf Donny.......ohooooooooooooooo

I had one on my bike that Newt gave me at the GA rally last year but it fell off sometime after the NY rally and before our Oct Dragon Run. I know I went over a speedbump on my way back from NY and the bell scraped it but it stayed on the bike. That may have damaged it though - I had it hanging on the bottom part of the frame (underneath the right foot peg). One day I noticed that the loop was still there but the bell part had fallen off somewhere. The bell didn't keep a gremlin from pulling one of the leads off ignition coils but I'd put another on if it was given to me.

ooooya, I have a gremlin bell (very small one) that needs a home. It would be my honor to give that bell as a gift to a fellow board member with all the good wishes that come with it. If it is meant to be you will see this post and PM me with a mailing address and the little bell is yours. I will pay the postage.
Its not the size of the bell but the size of the magic in it.

I don't have a bell but, I been thinking of getting a pair of giant balls to hang off the rear fender. Not sure they will bring luck, but I'm sure they'll bring smiles from those that notice them.

Gift from a friend. He got it at a gun shop. It's a nice brass bell intended for a hunting dog's collar.
Means a lot to me. I did the same for another good friend of mine - a sport bike rider ex-racer.
It attracts a lot of attention, but hey, what's new?
