The orange one looks like a mosquito crossed with a transformer.
Each to their own though.

I could actually imagine putting offroad tires on this bike.It looks perfectly sized for the role.

Well Steve, I hope you know that Dual-Purpose, or as they're known today, "Adventure Bikes", are seldom if ever going to look as "good" as "traditional/retro/cruiser" bikes, because the former(and I don't mean "TRANSformer" here) are designed in the "Form Follows Function" mode, whereas the latter(and I don't mean one o' those things you climb up) usually are designed using the reverse of that design principle in mind.

(...but you probably already knew this, didn't ya?!)

And btw, re this new smaller Tiger...I LIKE! It looks like the prefect sized bike which one can actually use off-road...within limits of course.

Not sure what to make of that, Mike.

I'm "king of the jiveA$$ turkeys" 'cause I agreed with your impression of this new Tiger "Cub", or I'm "king of the jiveA$$ turkeys" 'cause I disagreed with Stevie's take on the bike???

(...well, I guess it's nice to be the "king" o' SOMETHIN' around here anyway, RIGHT?!)

I'm going to have to wait to see one in person. I was hoping for more of a true enduro.

So what... the Tiger 1050 is going to disappear? The 1200 will be a beastie.

i like it. i have had 2 955i tigers. a 2002 and a 2005. the 800 looks like a good comuter. as far as an offroad machine. anything over 300lbs is a beast and too heavy, at least for a wuz like me.

If it isn't broke, I haven't messed with it.

Ive had my 1050 offroad a few times .Its capable but not if you have short legs. The 800 looks to fill that gap just great.Im not in the market for one anytime soon, but I think they will sell well.

Not sure about MCN claim to have a world exclusive ride, Julian Amos has just written an aricle in the December issue of Motorcycle Sport & Leisure (out Nov 5th).
He's done a 6000 mile tour round Europe and loves it.
The only downside I could see was the sidestand broke.

BTW, it also includes a little list of the new Triumphs for next year (colours etc).

January edition has a write-up on the new Speed Triple

I'll not pic it apart until I see you up close.
I like the idea of this bike I'm just not a fan and see no reason to have the frame exposed ala a Ducati. This type of bike looks unfinished to me.
Maybe it's just me but to each their own

Yep. When one is ready to graduate to another bike and/or perhaps trade up, this is a contender.

Yesterday I checked with a Triumph dealer, it sounds like they won't get them in the shop until February?

I guess we'll have to check it out at the NYC Motorcycle Show in January.

The frames are exposed on the tiger 1050 as well but just not as tubular as the new 800. Thats part of the bike I really Like

Yesterday Triumph upped a neat 9 minute vid of a bunch of press guys and a pro (the one with the camera mounted) riding the 800's in Barcelona

Its a shame they didnt do any real dirtbike riding in that but it does show it has a fairly smooth suspension.I have done exactly the same kind of rides with my 1050 but the dirty ruts part wouldnt have been that smooth.

Yeah, that's the same vid Soren posted not too long ago. Doesn't show much... only that the Tiger is capable of going down a dirt road.

I must be blind today...all I see is visor down review links and the last post was on 11/12/2010 by me.

which post or link. I don't like double posts of info as it needlessly takes up space so I usually check fairly good.
which is why I posted the video in here instead of making yet another tiger800 thread.

Scroll down to the 7th post... it's there. But just to let you know, it's no big deal.

ok but it's not the same video though just to be clear. It's not by Triumph, it's not on youtube, and it's a different color bike.

so I saw just right, i'm not going insane afterall...

The visor down vid may be from the same ride but it's not the same video.

in fact...
I think the visor down guy is who the triumph guy honked at because he went the wrong way.

so that conundrum is now solved.

carry on.
