The biggest problem facing Australians is 1) there is no viable opposition. The Labor party is disfunctional and disjointed and is as as far from forming a meaningful government as they were in 1996, when Howard won power.2) The Howard government has full control of both houses of parliament giving him full power to forge ahead with his reforms.
I am a firm believer that politicians and babies nappies (diapers?) should be changed often, and for the same reason. But given the state of the Labor party Howard could yet beat Menzies's record of longest serving Prime Minister. That'll teach us for having a two party system.
