Thought I would post this in the general section for people to see b4 I put it in tech vault.

http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/bikelift.htm

Only thing I did different was add 2x4 to the lifting edge with room for the oil filter. --I f I--

Hey wait a minute Sailer (I'm sure you're tired of that one)! In that other post about lifts you said it costs only $15. And that was 3 minutes before you posted this thread. So the cost of making one of those went up $5 in 3 minutes? I'd hate to think of what it's gonna cost an hour/day/week/month from now.

The one I made cost nothing... so let's just say a bike lift for $20 or less!!

Live to love, love to live.

I had the 2x6's, so the pipe/fitting was less than $10...<g>
I use it all the time, even though I now have a Sears lift as well.

First thing I did after getting my Speedy six years ago, and I have used it soooo much over the years. If I could not make something similar to use on a Rocket III or a T-Bird, that might be a deterrent to buying one.....but neither of them require chain maintenance.....

I use this lift anytime I work on the bike, from washing/cleaning, to pulling the air filter, just about anything other than checking tire pressures.

Indispensable.

Iffin you want to get fancy.
When completed as diagramed you will find that in the lifted position your galv rod will run parallel with the floor at a height of 3 or so inches. Just right for a good trippin!!
If you push the galv to the floor and calculate the angle at the 2x6 you can remove that much angle from the 2x6 so the rod will touch the floor and the 2x6 edges will be parallel to the floor.
I think it makes the whole set up more stable.

Yep, we made one and used it every time we cleaned and lubed the chain, and for cleaning the bike too. Very handy.
