I met a guy from the UK a few years back that did just that Keith. He custom built a trike around a VW beetle engine and transaxle. He bought those new and fabricated the rest. He didn't cut up and old bug. The back had all he needed to live on the road including a shower with hot water. He wrapped copper tubing around the exhaust headers and pumped the water through them.. He had a homemade Earls front end with the same bolt pattern and wheel as the 2 rear drive wheels so the spare fit any wheel that could go flat. It was a really cool contraption. He stayed with my friend for a couple weeks before moving on. He was riding around the world. He seemed kind of nieve so we were thinking he might not make it through central and south America. I wonder from time to time what happened to him and if he made it.
