So I have a Daytona Carbon Fiber half helmet with the D ring and strap. I recently got the quick connect from Daytona but I'm feeling a little dumb about getting it on there. Anybody have these? The directions say how to put the quick connect together but not how to put it on the helmet. Do I need to cut off the D rings to put on the quick connect? Any pointers would be appreciated and sorry for a dumb question.

This one is very similar to yours. Slip the one leg of the (longer) lower metal piece through the strap loop at the end of the D ring side of the helmet strap, then slide the plastic doo hickey on to the metal piece. The smaller (upper) metal piece goes on the other side of the helmet strap. It is highly likely that you can (and probably should) keep your factory D rings in place. The photo shows the three pieces in correct formation for how they will fit together.

Ya, that's pretty much like mine. Mostly I was wondering if I should cut off the D rings but I'll leave em on for now and see if I can deal with it. Thanks for the answer.

NO !! Leave the D rings , if you change helmets you can transfer the Q connect and the helmet's still good . I have 'em on both my helmets and the D rings are out of the way . The quick connects are great .

I run an Echo Buckle. Was able to transfer it (not without a bit of fussing at it) to my new helmet, though I have no plans to ever use the old one again (I didn't know that, however, when I transferred the buckle).

I have been running the quick connects on my helmets for years, and have always bought them from my dealer. But the newer ones I bought from him were of poorer quality, and the buckles were smaller. My wife didn't like hers at all, so she found one in the sporting goods section at Wal Mart (shudder), and it is bigger and easier to use. (Come to think about it, one of the members here is a mechanic at wally world, and I hear he is bigger and easier to use too! Must be some kind of connection)

Well now that I put it on, I think it sucks. I'd rather pull tight than clip it. IMO...the Daytona clips are small making them hard to use and I pinch my skin when I try to connect it. To me, it's just not worth the 10 bucks.

Thanks for the link FJ, I have just emailed them about delivery to Australia.
Did you have to do any modifications to your existing strap to get it to fit?

Nope. I never did cut off the D-Rings either. On my new helmet I was able to use the D-rings but just barely (and never did ride that way). The Echo buckle is virtually a must for my fat head.
If they don't ship Int'l let me know. I'm sure we can work something out.

Looks like it's possible, "International orders will have Air Mail charges added at time of shipment."

So you'd never pinch your skin between the buckle while putting it on? Maybe I have too much loose skin on my face. That's the biggest downfall I had with the daytona. If you liked that one as much as you say...I may try it.

Never been a problem. The prong end is very small and slips into the "socket" end a fair amount before the clasp engages. Not sure if I'm explaining it right. But no, never.

Why don't you explain that statement.
Or did you make it for no reason.

Took me about two weeks to cut mine off. They have a tendency to cross up when latching. Then you are kinda stuck in your helmet! Really no easier then just looping thru the d rings

I'm sorry but you're high. The echo buckle is far superior to the D-rings. I've never had a problem with the latching mechanism and mine is 8 years old (and I've used it on more than one helmet). I have fat stubby fingers and the d-rings are nearly impossible for me to deal with.

+1 FJ. I only have half of my index finger on my left hand and it has made it so much easier. One of the best things I have ever bought.
