Been riding 37 years. Been riding big V-twins for close to 20 of them. I was riding a Kaw Vulcan 1500 (great bike) when I walked into the Triumph shop with absolutely no plan of changing bikes. Fell in love with my America as soon as I laid eyes on it. My incredible wife said, "Buy it. You deserve it." (God, I love her.)
I took it for a ride and I've never looked back. Bigger is not always better.

Sounds like you got a good wife sir, so be good to her.

You ended up with a great bike that can grow with your and you tastes for a long time. If ever you want a bigger bike (motor) you can put in a big bore for far less than buying a new bike.

( I say motor because the stance of these Americas and Speedies are the same or longer than the average cruiser. The seat hieght is a bit lower but some people lower them even more.)

I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago. Edgar Allan Poe

I walked into Pure Triumph in Lauderdale to kill an hour. Lord knows the last thing I needed was another bike. Looked at the Speedy and America for a few minutes. Test drove the America around the block. Bought it.

I didn't care if it rode well, went fast, or stopped well. I bought because it looked so darn good.

When I walk to my garage almost 6 years later, my eye still goes directly to the America. It is what a motorcycle is supposed to look like.

I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.
