It absolutely is that bike you trade up from. The only difference is nobody is teasing you about your Triumph, so there is no need to trade. If they were many would be "trading up". You bought it for its looks and cool factor. At least that is why I bought mine.

I looked at it, fell in love, and thought this is the next generation of way too cool. Drove it around the block, walked into the dealer and bought it.

Mine has not really given me back the love and affection I have given it, but it is not ever for sale. It is still the king of cool to me IMHO>

I also agree upgrading is a bad term. Moving to something that fits you is really all it is. That is why there are so many flavors to pick from.
