Did you try putting the bit in the screw and giving it a few sharp raps with a hammer? Remember this is your gas tank and is sheet metal so don't hit it hard enough to damage the tank. This will shock it loose....maybe.
Why is it always "trade up" to a Tbird? I would consider that a step down from my machine.
