Exactly right, mid controls combined with 10-15psi in the rear tyre and remember to take your weight out of the seat when you see big bumps, road surface changes, or the suspension on the car in front move violently, and you'll be fine.
My rigid runs a hard mounted seat to the frame, and it's more comfortable to ride than the softail I came off previously. I'll never go back from a hardtail now I've owned one.
