My buddy and I are taking a ride out to Colorado Springs from Topeka KS over labor day weekend. I was just wondering if anyone is from around there or has been out that way that could make some suggestions concerning good places to ride, camp, drink beer, etc... Any help would be appreciated, Thanks

Manitou Springs is a neat little town to explore,
Lots to do and some good food and bars.
Our trip up Pikes Peak was memorable. Beautiful going up and we got chased back down by a hail storm but otherwise well worth it.

I lived in Glenwood Springs for 7 years and delivered bread for my Dad's bakery to many of the ski areas. To me,Colorado Springs is just a big military town with Ft Carson and the Air force academy. If you can, head west on US 24 towards Buena Vista and then you could even make a loop north to Leadville on 24/91 or to Fairplay on 285 and on to Breckenridge. Then end up back to Denver to go back east. Lots of cool bars in Breckenridge but there may be a bunch of Turkeys (tourists) since it will be Labor day. One of my favorite spots in Breckenridge is still there after 30 years is the Whale's tail. http://www.skitownrestaurants.com/breckenridge/restaurant.php?rid=119 But if you're going to go all the way to Colorado Springs you HAVE to get up in to the mountains. Man it sounds like I want to go with you.
