Hi, I just joined this forum to start researching the possibility of getting a new bonneville next spring. I just finished a two year tour of h$ll by selling a 2008 royal enfield bullet that I bought in '08. Those bikes are of truly terrible quality from the factory. I'm thinking of the 2010 t100 or maybe the 60 anniversary edition. Everyone please give me some feedback on the initial quality and dependability of the new bonnevilles.

Hi and welcome Maybe take a look at page 21 on this forum-that was where I came in and the answers there convinced me to buy a new 2010 TBA. (and trade my Twin Cam Harley for it!) Its a great bike, I'm happy with it,it's reliable (and I dont want my HD back)

Hi and welcome, This site is for fans and owners of Triumph Bonneville America and Speedmaster bikes, there is alot of informatiom relevant to the Triumph models you mention ( T100 and 60 ) These are more traditional styled, the America and speedmaster are cruiser styled. Stick around, we might convert you .

Regardless of what Triumph model it is with a parallel twin, the motors are awesome and virtually bullet proof (there are a couple people with almost 100,000 miles on them). The quality of the rest of the bike prett dog gone good too.

Al,
This forum is more specifically about the Bonneville America and Speedmasters, so anything but those qualifies as an "Other Bike" Many of us (including me) have more than one Triumph. I have both an 2007 America and a 2008 Bonneville T100. I love them both for different reasons and different rides. Hard to go wrong here.

Yeah, this isn't hinckleytwins.com. But discussions about our brother models are more than welcome.

I've had one and my riding buddy is on his second (after a poorly thought out sale) and they're reliable, agile, and just plain fun. That said, my America is funner and that's why it's my go-to ride of choice.

Mechanically, all the Bonneville line are equal in spite of having 2 different crankshaft configurations. I suggest you visit the dealer, ride a T100, Thruxton, Scrambler, America and Speedmaster, then buy the one that feels best to you. The only significant differences are in the look and feel and, buying on looks over feel usually results in owning a garage queen. I've been around since the days when most new bikes cost under $1000 and I have never seen anything nicer or more reliable than the new Triumph twins.

I own two standard Bonnie varients and an America. They are all Bullet proof. REs are cool but old tech.

i think my main concerns have been addressed. i suppose i was mainly concerned with overall quality and especially initial. the other bike i mentioned was terrible. i mean ride 50 miles, then get out the wrenches and so on. it sounds like the bonneville would be a great choice for me.

I have 24,000 (maybe 25,000 would have to go look) and Wendy has over 15,000 on hers and I haven't wrenched on anything I didn't want to. Meaning nothing went wrong but I did custom work to them. Unless you count changing worn out tires and the recommended valve adjustments.

i like doing my own tune-ups and routine maintenance. i only got my first street bike three years ago and other than lacking a good sync tool, i kept my bike and wifey's running ok. i talked to a dealer and he said the triumphs of recent years are going 100k with no major issues.

I have 17k on mine and just recently had the valves checked and adjusted. The mech told me they were out very little. They run great, handle even better.I would imagine the std bonny would handle very well and with it being FI that takes even one more maint issue off the table compared to the older carbbed bikes like mine.

If the present standard Bonneville(with the alloy wheels) was available when I purchased my Speedmaster, I may have had a tougher choice. That said I love my Speedmaster, but wouldnt mind a Bonnie too.
