Though, I have to ask: Do you and your wife have any kids who might be young enough to still be livin' at home? I ask this because of course the idea that many guys stop riding during those years IS very common. And, though I've been kidding about this phenomenon here, actually I can kind of see the point of respecting a concerned wife's wishes in this regard, due mainly of course to the idea that the sport of motorcycling CAN be a dangerous proposition which CAN result in some serous consequences.
Ya, I have 2; 5 yo son and 9 yo daughter. My son is still to small to go on the bike but my daughter loves it. In fact, my wife actually gets a bit jealous because, due to young kids at home, my daughter gets to ride with me more than she does.
As for danger, a lot of things can be dangerous. When it is your time it is your time. I actually lost a brother in a car accident because he didn't drink and drive. He would normally have 3 or 4 and drive home, this time he had 3 and grabbed a ride with a friend who hadn't had anything to drink.
