Went out yesterday to find the seat on my 14 year old sons bike missing. He has a 3 wheeler because he is autistic and afraid of falling over on a normal 2 wheeler, so I got him this cool 6-speed Belize 3 wheeler 2 years ago, which he LOVES! The amazing thing about this is that the seat is more like a tractor seat you'd find on an old motorcycle than a bicycle so I can't see what anyone would want with it for a normal bike. Even more amazing was that my air compressor and a bike rack for the car were RIGHT by the bike and neither were touched! Luckily the guys at the local bike shop gave me their tool (a stepped arbor with different sizes on it) to measure the post hole on the bike frame (they don't do standard sizes much in bicycle frames apparently) so that I could order the right size post for his new seat, so he'll be back on track riding it by Tues night. And hopefully by this weekend we'll be moving into a house or condo with a garage where he can store it safely instead of the carport we have now. Till then the seat will stay in the house each night!

Most likely some punk kids who stole it just to steal something. Sad but punk kids will be punk kids. Glad you got it sorted and good luck with the move, hope it works out!

I seem to recall your post & photo when you got him that bike. He was one proud rider. Glad you can get it back together for him so quickly.

Thanks guys, and the move'll be fine. A crosstown move can't be as bad as 1900 miles and 4 days!

These days, kids are pretty much rotten little wankers. Where I work, the wee gits come in and steal the labels off my tools. They think they'll get into less trouble than if they steal the actual tools, but they still have something to show their nasty little friends. "Whoa dood, look what I stole!"
I'd keep a lookout for someone riding around the local brat hangouts with your seat, they are too stupid to hide it.

I hope they don't end up taking 'the last seat in the house!'

To deprive him of use of his ride is particularly heinous.

My fifteen-year old son sends his condolences - or would if I could get him to understand, and if he talked. He loves his bicycle - though his training wheels are only rated to 125 lbs and really he's a little over that already, so we may have to start looking at trikes.

well, all is well now. I got him a nice new billet aluminum (hey why not shave 6 ounces off of a bike that weighs 60 lbs!) seat post, and a gel seat, so he is a happy camper! We move into a rental house this weekend with a garage, so his baby should be good and safe then.

Glad to hear it, Greg! And, good luck now with the "short move"!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Well, if it's the seat I'm thinking of, I'm going to make sure to leave them a hot stinking surprise in it...
