So I got the 12k service on the Bonneville done Friday. Got the bike back and all was well.

On Sunday I went out through some twisties in East/North San Diego County for about 160 miles. Then after I'd had my fill I hopped on to I-15 south to head home.

I was going about 90-95 mph in the express lane for a bit and my engine just shut off. I was quite shocked that this had happened after a full day of riding without incident. So, I pull over, hop off, check out the bike, and everything looks fine. So after sitting there baffled for a minute, I get back on, it starts right up and I'm on my way. Just like it never happened.

I'm puzzled.

YES!!! The combination of the Rev limiter and TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) seem to be the prevailing thought. Just very, very scary when it happens at the wrong time.

Thanks Thom. I was thinking it might have been something like that. But, I've been faster than that on the bike a few times so I wasn't sure. That must have been it though.

Luckily it was late Sunday afternoon and there weren't that many cars on the road at the time. I'm really glad I was in the express lane, because it was totally separated from the rest of the freeway.

You have a tach on your bike?

BTW... I have heard that this problem is most prevalent to people who just recently got married

Soon, a broken motorcycle will be the least of your problems.
If you were in top gear, you shouldn't have been anywhere near the rev limiter.

Ha! good one. It must have happened to you recently to then.

No tach. My bike is bare bones.

BTW...the new fork springs I got while the bike was at the shop are awesome.

Lonzo, I've done dumber things than forget to shift to 5th, so the possibility exists that I may have been in 4th. That would have been (or was) pretty dumb.
