Eastern Iowa to Estes Park, Colorado by way of South Dakota (July 23-Aug. 1)...

Badlands... (better than I imagined)

Had to visit Sturgis since I spent the night in Rapid City. (I bought a Sturgis 70th Anniversary Shirt.)

Mount Rushmore was cool. The ride in was great.

Highway 7 from Estes Park to Lyons is incredible.

On the way up Trail Ridge Road.

At the top of Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park. Over 12,300 ft. elevation. I think the temperature dropped by about 20 degrees in a matter of a few minutes. I snapped this picture when I pulled over to put my jacket liner on as I was heading back down the mountain. The wind and clouds really picked up, and with all the steep drop-offs... I will admit that I was a little nervous for awhile.

One of many... (and yes... I'm too close). In fact, a herd of about 50 came by the first night that we showed up at Mary's Lake Lodge. I also saw some Rocky Mountain Sheep the day I left for home.

Plus, we saw the Rockies beat the Cubs 17-2 (still had a good time, though). Sorry... I have no pictures of our return trip through Nebraska. Over 2,300 miles for the trip. Even with the Corbin/Backrest/Floorboards... I think I need a Sheepskin cover if (when?) I ever do it again.
