Hmmm, this sound like a personal issue---- But seriously, if you can find it, get a can/bottle of Navel Jelly. It's hard to find, only one local hardware store in my area had it. It's quite good at removing rust. Also, if you have a Ace Hardware store in your area (or some other well stocked store) they carry a lot of metric bolts in zinc and stainless. I'm like you, I hate rusty bolts. When I had my saddlebags installed they used regular steel bolts to mount them to the easy brackets. Yup, they rusted. Same with the air injector removal "kit", yup they rusted too. Have fun, Paw.

Be careful with naval jelly around paint and powdercoatings it's very caustic

Naval Jelly? lint , maybe...now as for your rusty nuts, Sorry to hear that. I try and use mine as often as possible thus preventing my getting rusty.
Seriously, use WD-40 or similar lube to remove then I would use stainless nuts and some high temp. anti-seize.

Yup, he's correct. I forgot to tell you to use a small artists brush to apply it, don't just wipe it on. But if the bolts can be removed easily I would just replace them with stainless.

I agree with you, SSjones and Dog, why not replace with new stainless. Good local hardware stores all have hard to find stainless metric fasteners, usually in lockable trays. I always take a bolt and use different nuts to fine the thread size. I've replace a lot of perfectly fine fasterners on my bikes with stainless allen head bolts, less tools to carry.
Concerning naval jelly, best to just remove the fastener or part from the bike before applying. Not everyone is competent with an art brush, why take a chance on curdling powder coaton surounding parts.

Dumpy's Rusty Nuts- Boxhill or Bust
Its been years since I saw these play, and I have lost count of the amount of times I've seen them. Last I heard, Dumpy was mainly doing solo covers of Hawkwind
Do I get bragging rights for the fact that he moved to my neck of the woods a few years ago? Dunno if he's still here though
OK back to the thread. Mine are rusty too
