Had a lurch out of work today to respond to an emergency and neglected to put my boots back on, riding with just my work shoes. Really felt nekkid out there without them. The Ankle Gods rode with me, but I don't want to tempt them like that again

Boots are a good thing. When I wiped out my '59 Triumph back in the day I snapped my lower leg it two... both bones broken in half. I was wearing tall boots which saved me from compound fractures. Without those boots it would have been worse!

Boots Rule! Almost always the first thing to hit the ground in a tight pinch! And if ya can't wear boots, at least have the style to wear those Harley sandals that are so popular!

one of my riding buds never where's boots. he wears these sandle things everywhere, i dought he has any other shoes. i am always bustin his chops about it and he always sez "its to hot" oh well, its not my problem, i dont always wear my helmet but i always wear my boots. we were out to my sons house a while back and my wife (grandma) is gonna take the kids (pink, electric, barbie) scooter that will maybe run about 6mph with an adult on it, for a ride. she was wearing flip flops (need i say more) she came back with a gash and broken bones in her foot. i will say that the good news is that my grandchildren(i mean the 14yr old mostly hahaha) no longer argue with me about wearing boots or at min closed toe hard shoes. there are to many moments when you have to plant that foot and a shoe wont do and if you were to break a bone the boot will hold it together (if wearing laceups, not so much with engineer style or cowboy) long enough to get med attention. i mean keep the swelling under control. BOOTS!!! even with no gloves or helmet or jacket, boots always!!
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

I always wear a helmet, it's the law here. But, you're right, always boots! I don't get shorts on a bike either. I had a good laugh at my brother's expense recently, both he ans his son have bad burns on their right calves from riding his HD Rocker in shorts. They were suprised that the huge chrome Screaming Eagle pipe connected to the carb got hot on air cooled V-twins.

Funny thing is I never wear a helmet unless I am in a state that requires one but I almost always wear my boots.

+1 on the boots. Not being able to walk really tends to ruin ones day. Not talking about a major wipe out. Simply inadvertently dragging a foot long enough to break the skin is enough. Even the passengers should wear boots. ATGATT is for me. Cept I do tend to leave the chaps at home all too often. Time for some draggin jeans eh? Ya can wear jeans for weeks without washing them too! For those long road trips! Just ask Literski!

+1 on boots and helmets. I ride my bike about 3 or 4 miles once a month without a helmet just to listen for anything my helmet might be blocking, (my hearings terrible) other than that I wear one faithfully. I wont even move my bike out of the garage to wash it with out boots. And I never haul an improperly dressed passenger, I hated that rule alot of times but I just wont do it.

And please don't tell me you sleep in your boots. Even if you do... just don't tell me. It's not something I need to hear!!

The man's from Kentucky, Keith - You know ****** well he wears them to bed. How else is one to knock the ashes out of the corncob pipe before you blow out the bedside candle.

I apologize ahead of time and mean nothing by this so take no offence but after what Barry said I can't contain myself! You know how you know the toothbrush was invented in Kentucky? If it was invented anywhere else it would have been called the teethbrush! Again, sorry but it is funny.

I always wear boots, leather jacket, kevlar reinforced jeans, leather gloves (summer type cause I have to feel) and an open faced helmet. About three months ago I got rammed from behind whilst stationary on my speedy by a hot girl in a hatchback. I hit the road and slid with my left ankle under the bike. I walked away without so much as a scratch. A little bit bruised and sore but thats it. Speedy was not so lucky but she is back now and ready to be spoiled with some upgrades. I have ordered the Freak kit and Nology leads... sorry getting carried away, my trusty Triumph boots not only look good but saved my ankle.

I also always wear boots, even if it is 38C and 100% humidity... it's warm but I feel more comfortable and of course... safe.
I especially like the shin padded ones because they offer a lot of support to the lower part of the leg and ankle and I can just rest the weight of my legs on them. It makes long ride more comfy.

I ride with boots and gloves.... have caught rocks and wasp/hornets on both and have found feet and hands are essential for good operation of a motorcycle......
