I rode a 2010 Vintage Chief. Wasn't impressed by my experience but... I would love to see these guys succeed!! Rumour has it that at Sturgis this year, Indian Motorcycle Co. is gonna reveal the (drum roll please)... 2011 Indian Scout. As usual with the latest incarnation of Indian... she's a looker!!! And check out those hardbags! Could it be... Indian with a contemporary look and feel!

Sorry Keith, but that right there is a contradiction in terms, aka, an oxymoron.

You see, Indian motorcycles greatest draw to the motorcycling public is their 1930s and '40s Deco look. And thus, any Indian motorcycle that would even attempt a so-called "contemporary look"(discounting the "feel" aspect here), would most likely confuse, bewilder, dismay and otherwise turn off most potential Indian customers to purchase such a model.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

That there, John...Was that a comment on the Indian motorcycle or my observation?

(..or BOTH???)

At least it hasn't got any tassels

Are you sure that's a Scout? I would have expected the Scout to be a lot smaller than a Cheif?

I am not really sure what "they" make, other than the badge.

That bike looks way to modern for that old looking thing on the front called a fender. Its a mess, not an Indian I would buy. Just my opinion though, that is why we have so many different choices. Somebody will buy one.

A few years back Kawasaki released a model called the Drifter which was a thinly disguised copy of the Indian. Don't know what happened in the states but in Australasia they languished on show room floors and dealers had to heavily discount them to get rid of them. The styling will appeal to old time purists but most of the modern riders will not see too much worth getting excited about-could be totally wrong so time will tell!

I know, I know... but with that sort of a cafe racer seat, and the hard bags (oooo!) and that fly screen too the designers at least show promise in getting their head out of the sand.

I don't really like anything behind the front wheel on that bike except the engine.(cosmeticly)

Is that bag not on right? The striping doesn't line up. The Vintage could have beach bars for that vintage look. I wish the best for them too, but in a recession, it could be tough again.

That is the Blackhawk Chief. The Scout has yet to be unveiled. Maybe at Sturgis.

I'm with you Keith, I kinda like the Retro-Modern look. I don't think it's perfect, but I don't think it is ugly either.
