Just been looking at booking for next year and wondered if anyone else fancies going, I know NIBiker (Stephen) has booked for next year.

If you have never been to the Isle of Man for the TT it is worth a trip and the expected price of £200.00 for the ferry from Heysham or Liverpool.

Just thought it would be nice as a unusual meeting place and sort of a one off.

Now is the time to book here dates are Saturday May 28th - Friday June 10th and a deposit of £20.00 will be required to book with your bike.

I will be booking to arrive early Saturday morning (May 28th) and will be leaving Tuesday evening (May 31st).

So anyone interested in the ROAD RACING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD

We're booked for next year; yeah!!!! Missed this year as couldn't get ferry, BOOO!!!! Shame though Ray would have been good to meet up there but we will be over for race week.
Definately recommend it if you have never been it is a real experience; one not to be missed!
Beware though I have tattoo to remind me of one trip!! may be a few of these to blame!

I have not booked anything yet Ray but my plans are to stay at the campsite the football team run at st Johns, they provide breakfasts, shgowers, tea etc. campsite is nice and level and its a kind of quiet crowd. its a stones throw from Ballicraine corner or Glen Helen. there are two pubs the Tynwald Inn and The Farmers arms (this was closed last time I was there) bus stop is a 3 min walk should you wish to go into Douglas and not be able to ride your bike back

If there is a small number of us going I could probably swing indoor accomodation in the church hall at St johns.
there would be about 20 others in the hall so there are noises in the night, it has catering, toilets, and if it rains you dont get wet, no drink or offensive behaviour is aloud, but its only a couple of quid a night to help run the hall.

I usualy stay here but I use the showers and breakfast at the football pitch and thought it looked like a change.

Hi Stephen

Sure we will talk more about this at Dent, but the football field sounds great especially if there are a few of us. If you think on give us the phone number and address of the site and I will book it... What dates are you going for ????

No dates sorted for me yet Ray, I have to check the sailings, dont think I know them untill early next year.
Also have to check with work I can get off, I will see if I can dig up a contact at St Johns FC so we can book pitches.

A very tempting prospect it is too!

Doing the North West 200 next year for certain but why not make it a double. Never been to IoM to my shame and Joey Dunlop was my hero!

Ray, Stephen make room for me if you don't mind.

You are too kind Stephen

My Da used to make me an egg soda - fried egg, fried soda with plenty of salt on. "Go on son get that down ya - it's go for ya!" Never seen that served up at any health clinic or recommended by weightwatchers surprisingly but it the tast was heaven sent.

Will take you up on that - will be picking up my uncle Harry (Mr NW 200).

We like to stay down near Douglas so we can walk in of an evening. Staying at Glen Dhoo camp site; right on course, and next to access roads so don't have to get going to early. Course though you have to make your own breakfast!! Unless you want a hair of the dog with your breakfast at local pub; which also has live bands on during race week. Anyway am sure at some point we can meet up.

Glad you managed to change your bookings for race week Ray. We're going from Heysham but booked on the ferry that takes about 3 days to get there. Will take sick bags and spend the whole time pinching my fingers. Love loading my bike on the ferry gets very exciting then. Hopefully Guy Martin has better luck next year.

Hey just realised Ray your sailing time home....get up quietly!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Theres a few coming over then! Maybe have a meet up? I live half way round the course in Kirk Michael... got a big kettle
Also if anyone wants to post any luggage over before they arrive your more than welcome to send it to me. I got a couple of mates that camp at Glen Lough and normally send me their tents and sleeping bags so the bikes aren't loaded up.

They've always been inconsistant though. I pay anything between 160 and 180 through out the year when I go over with the bike... unfortunatly its not like we have a choice though.
I think Joey used to stick his race bikes on a fishing boat and head over that way

ACU Events Ltd had confirmed Bill Currie and Kevin Morgan have died following an accident during the second sidecar qualifying session for the 2011 Isle of Man TT.

A full statement from ACU Events Ltd read:

"ACU Events Ltd regret to announce that sidecar competitor Bill Currie, 67, from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire and his passenger Kevin Morgan, 59, from Shrewsbury were both killed during the second sidecar qualifying session at the 2011 Isle of Man TT Races following an incident at Ballacrye in the North of the Island. The session was immediately red flagged following the incident.

"Bill was an experienced racer who first competed at the TT Races in 1969, when he recorded a third place finish. He finished 8th in last year's TT sidecar Race in his fastest ever race time of 107.944. Kevin made his TT debut in 1984. This was the first year that the pair had competed together.

"Bill was divorced with 2 children and Kevin was single with two sons. The ACU wishes to pass on their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of both competitors.

"I have known both Bill and Kevin for many years and am deeply saddened by their untimely death,” said ACU Events Managing Director Jim Parker. They were a huge part of the sidecar paddock and will be sorely missed by everyone involved in the event.”

The statement adds the Coroner of Inquests has been informed and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is underway.

My thoughts and feelings are with the family and friends of Bill Currie and Kevin Morgan.

Three days in the IOM and really enjoyed every minute if you take away the ferry ride there and back. The lap times just get faster and faster..

Yes I think so as well Stephen, we did pretty good considering it was a taster for Bonnie to see if she enjoyed it or not. Luckily for me she loved it and cannot wait to go again.
