I noticed my rear wheel was making a "roaring" sound as I coasted into the driveway the other day. Jacked it up, found a "kink" in the chain at the masterlink. The masterlink seems to be "sticking" to the countersprocket, causing the chain to vibrate ALOT vertically. I've tried everything to get this kink out, nothing helps. Everytime the masterlink comes off the countersprocket, it's kinked. This is a "power master" X-ring chain (or something like that) that I bought about a year ago. Guess I'll either have to buy another one, or put the original chain back on....both sprockets still appear new.

Try a new master link. And check the alignment.

Is it a rivet type link, or the kind with the little clip?

Of course it's rivetted...Will go by freewheeling honda, they have been ALOT of help with my bikes...I'll have to cut it off, and replace it with a "Master Link"...

When you rivetted it, did you use the little shims to maintain the gap?

Believe it or not, it's easier to get parts for my 1972 bonneville than it is to get simple parts for my America...Now, somebody's grandmother died, and the part still did'nt show up....got a feeling this is gonna be same as always...like pulling teeth to get a simple masterlink...UNBELIEVABLE

Huh... a master link for a 525 chain should be a piece of cake. Fasteddy will send you one pronto with no hassles!
