I agree, that could have ended very differently and very badly. She went from defending herself to being the agressor and if she had shot anyone at that point she probably would have been arrested. Those guys may have been up to no good but they hadn't yet done anything wrong or against the law. Everywhere they went was public and they were allowed to go they could chalk it up to coincidence and assert that they were not following but just happened to be going the same way.
