Other than Steppenwolf, what are the best biker tunes?

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Well Paul, having been born and bred in SoCal, and just a stone's throw from where the Wilson brothers were also born and bred, I too have been a Beach Boys fan since I was a YOUNG dweeb, but I think Larry asked about "Biker Tunes" here.

And so, other than the following catchy little ditty by the Boys, I'm not sure if mentioning them here is really what Larry had in mind.

Love that song!

I don't really know why, but I think anything by Jimi Hendrix would work for biker tunes.

Being a simple-minded country boy that "born & bred" axiom never quite added up to me. Seems the bred part should come before the born part. But that's just me

Seems most biker music is recorded by a 3 piece band; including lead guitar, bass guitar, and a drummer played loud enough to drown out some guy who can't sing

Hey guys, GREAT contributions here... I listened to 'em all. But I gotta put Richard Thompson's '1952 Vincent Black Lightning' at the top of the heap for artistic merit, musicianship and bikerness (new word). And he says the song just sort of came to him... but I think somewhere in the depths of his mind he's had a thing for the Black Lightening for a very long time.

IMHO the two extremes of biker tunes would be:
Little Honda by the Beach Boys and Road House Blues by the Doors.

Who doesn't like Arlo? Well, maybe my wife, 'cause I sing that song waaaayyy too much.

The Bird Song - another classic scoot tune, but I have to slow down for that one.

The Byrds, almost any Steppenwolf (including The Pusher) and "Take a Load Off Annie", but I don't know who did that last one.

I logged into this site, I was feelin' 'bout half past dead
Then saw this question, and I started to rack my head

Steve asked if anybody knew this song, and yes is what I said
The name o' this song is "The Weight", and The Band did it, and...
and...
and...now I wish I had another rhyme to this..

(yep Steve, that's a great song alright...it's one o' MY favorites too!)

This thread just keeps getting better... I had completely forgotten about the ol' 'I don't want a pickle... just wanna ride my motorsycle' song by our beloved Arlo Guthrie. And others presented here also jogged my memory. But Dwight I gotta say... I just don't remember the lyrics to 'The Weight' by The Band being quite like that. Of course it does have a lot of verses and I mighta forgotten the one you quoted!!!
