Hi Folks, A funny thing happened today! My bike was running a bit rough, not so easy to start and missing a bit when accelerating hard. Thought I would replace the air filter as it was due. On raising the front seat I found the top air box moulding "shattered" on the RH side near the carb. I total in about five bits, not just cracked. I wondered if the plastic had deteriated or Triumph had used some dodgy plastic! Has any one else experienced the same? Is there an easy way to get the box out. It lloks like a nightmare of a job, almost as if Triumph had built the bike arround the air box!!! I am guessing the back wheel and mudguard need to come off as a minimum to shift it! ANY HELP Please!!! Regs Kenny

mgpauls has one listed in the classifieds. That's a fairly uncommon occurence. Backfires due to improper jetting, etc. typically cause the airbox to break.

There's a thing known as "Air Box Ka-Blooey" that sometimes happens when you have a backfire into the airbox.

Just got the report back from the dealer this morning. Air box shattered. Replacement estimated at $260 for the air box and 2.5-3 hours labour. So yea, it looks like a lot of work to get the thing out. thread

for that $ I'd eliminate the airbox. get a m/c jack & bust out the wrenches. I believe Dinqua has an airbox removal proceedure on his site. BTW I blew up my airbox by twisting the throtttle before hitting the start button.
