Hi,

My RPM Meter has starting displaying wrong numbers after some high temperature ( 95*f up ) and some long runs ( couple hours straight ). The needle is higher at an average 500RPM. I'm sure it's the Meter, as the engine vibration and sound are the same, as when it's displaying ok. Other then that bike runs as usual. When I stop the engine, the needle points 1000RPM ( bassicly the minimum ). After bike cools down, it works good again.

anyone experienced that? Could this be a sign of a mulfunction somewhere else? My dash lights are working fine.

Thanks for any help.

BTW, my bike is 2007, the harness was factory installed for the RPM. I just had to plug it. It's about 1 year old.

The tach is still reading 1000 rpm with the engine off? That would have to be the gauge.

With the engine off, the tach needle on my 2010 Speedmaster is two needle widths BELOW the 1.

I spoke to my dealer and they said it should be the gage. The warranty should cover it.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Thanks for the replies.

Mine is doing the same but thinks 2000 RPM is zero. Bike seems fine and my math skills are improving.
