I found this oil temp gauge and it is extremely well priced compared to the $129 + ones I have seen advertised elsewhere. http://www.getgeared.co.uk/moto-detail_Motorcycle_Oil_Temperature_Gauge_No_29

Looks almost like the same gauge, I wonder if Newbonneville gets them from the same people.I also wonder if they sell to the US and how much shipping would be.

Except at that price it could be junk, not give the correct temp, seals give way and spray hot oil all over your leg or simply fall apart and pcs drop down into the gear box.Awesome deal!

Orrrrrrrrrr...
It COULD be a decent gauge that is accurate, looks nice, and costs way less. Let somebody give it a shot before making it sound like the thing was built to destroy you.

Sounds like you have a very good bad find there. Cheaper is not always cheaper in quality. New Bonneville is not the only person able to market a oil gauge.

Yep, it looks like a good deal, alright. I just wonder if it might come in a Fahrenheit scale for us other North Americans south of the 49th? Ya see, I can just image the following little scenario if I'd purchase one that reads in Celsius. I'd be rollin' along the highway, I'd take a quick look down to see what temp my oil was runnin', and then utilizin' some of my concentration that I should've been usin' on all the bonedheaded cagers out there, I'd start doin' the calculations in my wittle head: Okay, let's see. it's readin' 95C, and so that's 95 X 9/5 + 32, and so that's....HOLY CRAP, THAT BUICK HAS JUST TURNED RIGHT IN FRONT O' ME!!!!!
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Ok, I have ordered one, it will be with me in a couple of days. Apparently the shiny top part with the gauge actually turns round on the top so you can set it to the viewing angle you require.

I will check to see if this fits the Triumph hole. Have one and it works great. The top also spins for visual alignment.

I would think that stem is going to go to far into the case and hit gears.

The dip stick can be cut down to size and still register the temp. Still too deep on the threaded part. Mine won't work. Sorry to lead anybody on.

It won't work? Is that definitive?

The one that I posted? No it won't work. Well, not on a Triumph. Works well and looks good on another bike though.
Even if you cut the dip stick down, it looks like it reaches too far in and will hit the gear.

The first one nookiebear posted is listed to fit our bikes so that one will fit and work the question is quality. I am in the camp that lower price doesn't mean lower quality but by the same token I don't assume it is good quality. Have to wait and see on that one.

Completely agree! I don't assume it's good and I won't disregard it on price alone. Well, nookie ordered one so we'll wait and see...

Far from it, these are well made, accurate, excellent seals, and German made, like most of the stuff on Getgteared, have brought loads of things from these people, have'nt found any faults with there stuff. Expensive is'nt necessarily a requisite for quality.

So, steershead HAS one, 2 of us have ordered them... now, if we help our US friends out at say $159 per gauge plus shipping that should keep the "its expensive so must be good" people happy and us UK peeps can make a few quid,
Job done everyone happy,
I must say that I thought it was only the Harley boys that adheared to "its expensive so must be good" LOL

I was simply skeptical because it looked rather cheaper looking then the new bon offering.I see now that some of the members have this item.I also see it is made in Germany, which is where the new bon model comes from as well.Same maker perhaps It doesnt look the same .And Im anything but of the Harly ilk,,,,,,,,,,thems fightin words. Nookie, when you get that puppy, post a few closeups of it please
