hi all, I bought a lightbar (Triumph / used one) but it comes with one bulb broken. The other bulb is not easily readable, so I 'm not sure about it I asked my vendor but he cannot find any doc about the triumph lightbar bulb So is it a H3 12v/ 35w or H3 12v/ 55w ? I don't know if it's a 35 watts or 55 watts Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
I do not read/write english very well. Thank's to be patient.

Salut Thierry, On my previous TBA, one of the light bar bulbs burnt out rather quickly. I put in the 55W bulbs (could not quickly source 35W bulbs) and they worked fine, but they do burn hotter. If you do use the 55W bulb, be very careful wiring does not come into contact with anything near the bulb. Bon chance!

Thank you guys !
So, I coudn't find 35w bulb here in my city.
I asked all vendors : Triumph of course, but also Kawa, Yamaha, BMW, Suzuki, I also asked to car and mechanical vendors, they all say the same thing : There is no 35w H3 bulb, even in their catalogs. Nor in the Triumph catalog !!!
My Triumph vendor was not informed about bulb replacement for the driving lightbar. It seems that he does not sell accessories so often.
So I fitted 55w bulb ... I'll take care about heat when light will be on.
Anyway, I bought that driving lightbar more for the look that "finish the bike" instead of having more light.
Thank you

Salut Thierry, Yes, that's the same problem I encountered when I went looking for H3 35W bulb, no one seemed to have them in stock. With my "new" TBA, I got some of those Xenon blue bulbs that Brent (newspeedmaster.com) sells. I believe they are 35W for the lightbar bulbs. I also replaced the headlight bulb with Xenon blue bulb. Here's the weblink: Xenon Blue bulbs at NewspeedmasterIls sont tres bon, je suis tres heureux avec les deux. Bon chance, Steve

I get my replacement bulbs at the auto parts store. I carry a couple spares. they are like 6 bucks a piece. I got in the habit of turning the light switch off when I turn the engine off, then turn the lights back on when after I restart the engine. Not sure it that helps because there is a fuse with the kit, but they seem to last longer. The light bar is still the best investment I've made.

I also replaced the OEM H3/35w bulbs with 55w bulbs, as I couldn't readily find a local source for the 35's when one failed. That made the passing lamps brighter than the OEM H4 headlight bulb, so I also replaced the OEM H4 with a high-output PIAA bulb. Plenty of light now. That said, I now run the passing lamps less.

Yamaha carries a 35W H3 (Part # STR4NK355001) I was lucky to find a parts guy that knew what was on his shelf. He told me that this bulb isn't listed as a 35W on their microfiche, but 35W is standard equipment on some of their bikes' lightbars. Sure enough, the box says 55W, but the bulb inside is 35W. Ron Turner Cycles The Triumph dealer sent me to the HD dealer.

Thank you for advices.
I knew I can found some 35w on the Web but the bulb costs 2 or 3 euros and probably shipping cost 15 euros ...

As Moe says, NAPA sells them - but they don't always carry them in the stores - plus probably not available in France ?
I went out searching today (in two-three months both of the original bulbs have burnt out), struck out at NAPA, O'Reilly, Advanced Auto Parts, Auto Zone, the Suzuki Dealer and the Polaris/Victory dealer. Finally went to the motor company - they had them, no problem.
I apparently just missed the bikini bike wash, and wanted to beat the rain home so couldn't stay for the bikini contest. They did have all the bikes usually on the main floor outside, to make room for the clothing sale.
But they had the bulbs (bought a spare).

I found them at O'rReilly north of the river. So, was the HD dealer Gail's (Worth) out south?

No, Central, in Olathe.
And I've got to stop trusting that people know what they are talking about. I asked for 35w, when he brought them out I asked if they were 35w and he said yes. Did I check myself - no, not until I got home. Sigh.
I did get a full refund, and he checked and it seems H-D has changed all of theirs to 55w, so that probably won't be an option for anyone.
I may check another O'Reillys, but neither the one in Olathe nor the one at 103rd & State Line carrried them.

One of the biggest advantages of the lightbar is that it makes you much more visible. I've had mine for three years. They, and the highbeam, are on during all daylight hours, and the instances of idiots pulling in front of me seems to have diminished considerably.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
