I was thinking of swapping my stock for the CR. I have a 2005 America. I read on another thread that the gain was not susbstantial enough for the $$$? Also, If I do get it is it easy enough to do the install myself? I'm by no means a mechanic but i can turn a wrench. Or should i just let my mechanic handle it?

its easy fit one thing what is needed is reversing engine mount

from my experience they are easier to work on never had a problem with cold start(had with stock karbs) and you will need to find your own set up

Did you see any benefit perfomance wise over the stock setup. I bought a set of carbs and a head from a couple of the members of this fine site and sent them to Fast Fred a year ago but that is not working out very well. I have been putting off installing the 904 kit and 813 cams I got from Carlos until I get my other parts but it does not look good. I would like to do something with my intake system but can't decide what. I have been looking at the FCR's but I wanted to keep the stock look.

can't really tell coz had CR carbs long before big bore was done and never had bike dynoed before.setting on dyno was done after big bore were installed and soon going to do another one with changed clutch over all I'm happy with CR and what I heard about FCR that they have no choke and that might be an issue in some conditions

Without pretending to know that much, from what I've read on here and other sites, IMHO I would be spending my money on fixing what performance parts you have invested your money in so far. It appears to me you would get better bang for you buck researching alternatives to just more juice. I also am of the belief the simple oem carb will do it's job in the majority of upgrades besides stroking, and not many go down that path.

Like I said, I can't speak from experience but I can recall Reading comments from at least a couple of blokes who admit the purchase was not worth the money, let alone the effort.

Of course, if I saw a before and after dyno printout, I'd be much more likely to see the merits.

let's make it clear my stock carbs at some point felt apart and CR were off the shelf option and cheaper than stock carbs from dealer........anyway no regrets and in some situations they are better than stock in my opinion
