Back when they didn't put oil in the Triumph frame. When you order a spring for a bike it came with 2 steems one for a Triumph and one for a Harley I was looking today at a Harley springe stem, look pretty close to a new 03 steem. I'm going to see if I can do some tradeing for a spring and put it on a America. The old boy got 3 spring, if I keep pulling out those long wheel base $ 10.00 bills he may sell just one. with a few beer's also.Rudyr

The Triumph steering head is 1" longer than the HD and the springer won't fit without lengthening the top of the legs and the threaded stem.

Thank you. Don't see any problem with stem and a mach shop. Now the legs may be problem to over come. Be something to think on for a littel while. Oh well what's time to a pig.Rudyr

mr, Give a shout out to biker (Ed Smith) he made a very nice springer for his America and can assist with a lot of your questions and concerns.

The stem would be easy, agreed and I looked at that. The legs could be extended by machining a small extender that threads in as long as the springer is the type that the risers thread into the top of the legs. I just wasn't sure I wanted to put that much stress on those two 1/2" bolts. I suppose you could machine the spacers for through bolts and use a grade 8 bolt. By the way Pat, Ed made a girder as far as I know no one made a springer yet. I actually like a girder better with the "clutches" on the sides like a British one I have here.

You are right dog, it is a girder and not a springer. I stand corrected. But Ed is still very knowledgeable and could still offer some good advise.

I agree 100%, just to build that girder from scratch is something. My hat's off.

Now that you all talk about girder front end. I had forgot(67years old)I gave to my son to ride I kept the titel a 64 750 modifde Bonnevill with a orgeinal(1930's I think) girder front end. I had extende 4 in. over and chromed and it has a vairable rake on it with a 21 in wheel and a 1963( the perkes of manigeing a Triumph dealership a long time ago) Triumph cub front hub and a after market softe tail(I never road it with )I don't think he even rides it now. He into flying, it may be sitting in the back of his grage up north. will check on that.Rudyr
