Okay so yesterday I thought I'd sacrifice a little time for the greater good of the rally and I pre-rode the whole length of the Kanc from Woodsville to Conway.
I know, I know the things I do sometimes. You can thank me later. Leaving from 302, headed towards Lincoln, the beginning and end of this section is freshly paved. The middle in the National Forest is rough in a couple places but way better than it was last year. This is my personal favorite part of the Kanc. All the sweeping turns none of the traffic. I didn't come onto a car heading my way until after the Giovannis resturant right before Lincoln. Lincoln sucks on a saturday afternoon, but good thing we are doing this on a friday. Yard sales and old people in Caddies doing Uturns is not a fun thing to find on a corner.
The Lincoln to Conway is overall in good shape, being the "faster" section at 50mph instead of 40. But with 10x the traffic. One oddity minivans were traveling faster than sporty type cars. Packs of Vettes and Hogs crept through the turns. Good ride overall, more tourbuses than usual but in the middle of this section traffic thinned out. The only cop I saw was a USDA ranger shooting radar which I've never seen before. Total time was 1 3/4 hours, but I figure we'd ride it slower.
One major tip to share if you have a sport bike behind you with a passenger, wave them ahead so you can enjoy the view on the pillion.
Oh the other sections of the ride.
93 is wonderful.....well not terrible, paving through Concord is done, the only work ongoing is 4 bridges on 93 north. A statie was hiding behind a road work sign with a radar gun and walked into the middle of the left lane to wave someone over. This is not cool since the minivan beside me in the left lane decided he wanted to share my spot in the right lane.
