I've turned my America into a solo rig and I was wondering what others have done to finish off where the rear pegs/peg hangers are. I've seen the Triumph single seat finisher for about $100, but was wondering what others have done - thanks!

I have those forward peg brackets that newspeedmaster sells. Handy for standing up in the saddle on long trips. Currently using the stock passenger brackets but plan on replacing them someday.

I pulled the hangers and moved the pegs to where the pipes hang, that way I still have the pegs as another position for my feet on a long haul. Of course I still have that unsightly tab sticking out from the frame, making Dave's and others solution a bit nicer, but it was quick, cheap and effective.

I'm not flexible enough to stand up on the pegs just in the bottom hole.

I have seen conchos and chrome spike nuts, Viking ax heads, silver coins, and probably a few things that are not coming to mind at the moment.

Will the pegs just bolt right on there?

if you are sure about going solo, don't be afraid to take a grinder and cut-off wheel to those tabs

They will... the only snag being when they snug up, will they be in the right position to fold up. I grabbed a handful of zinc coated washers (which are inconsistent in thickness) and used one per side as shims to get the pegs to tighten up in the right position. I just had to go through the bunch of washers until I found a couple that were the right thickness.

Vera Lynn dumped her two up stuff a while back. I kept the rear hangers as those are much more comfortable for tucking in the wind stream. Only change was she got a pair of speedy hangers.

Even on the Blue Ridge Parkway I use 'em as evidenced by the photo.

Although Cinnamon Girl got the two up hardware, she still retains newspeedmaster's relocated passenger peg hangers. Although the repositioned hangers are a boon for the passenger, for the pilot, they are too center-line for tucking comfort.

Hum, seems most photos have the rear pegs deployed.

Point is, going with solo finishers takes away a valuable foot position option. You might consider leaving the rear pegs on in the oem position or another.

All my Triumphs are solo, on my America I just pulled the pegs and hangers and reinstalled the bolts. It is a clean look. I wouldn't hack off the tabs or dispose of the hangers & pegs unless you are willing tosell the bike really cheap in the future.

Get some black touch up paint at auto zone, it's in an inconspicuous place so a slightly different shade won't matter and the little brush marks won't be noticeable either.

I just disguised the frame tabs with a simple farkle:

I've gone solo also but haven't figured what type of rear peg holder or finisher I want. I often use the rear pegs for a change in position. The front spoiler adds a nice touch to the bike.

Please disregard the oil slick on the driveway. Just lubed my chain. The driveway is getting done this fall.

I see you edited your first post to try again.
In your first post...you didn't put the address of your picture.
This time, you did it right but you have your code brackets incorrect and with the wrong command.
Yours currently reads:
http://i987.photobucket.com/albums/ae356/fatric/2004TriumphSpeedmaster003.jpg[/IMG][/image]
It should read:
[ image]http://blah blah blah/like above.jpg[/image]

That's all. Try it again.

I like your rear 'solo finishers'... nicely done. Also noticed you add a mud flap on the front. Good idea!!!
