I won't encourage another oil thread (Scout's honour), but I am curious as to where you live.

Psssst... hey Mike, sorry for whispering but I don't want others to hear (seems everyone's burnt out on oil threads). Re-mortgage the house and buy the good stuff. Oh, and check the Tech Vault like Bill suggested.

Hello Mike,

Walmart stocks Mobil 1 20W50 synthetic cycle oil for just over $13 a liter. Canadian Tire is $15/liter for the same stuff and $20/liter for Amsoil 20W50. That's all I'll use.

You might be able to pick up some Amsoil from a dealer. Know anyone close by?

As for filters, I order 3 or 4 at a time from out of province to beat the tax. Usually get a deal on triumph filters when I purchase more than 1. Hmmm, with HST I won't be able to do that any more.

Hey Mike... knowing where you live (and a bit about ambient temps of your season) would help determine the best weight oil for your bike.

Otherwise I must advise you on oil filters... DON'T buy K&N! Click here to find out why I say that.

Over 60k miles on nothing but SHELL Rotella-T Synthetic, 5w-40, at about $20.00 U.S./gallon.

I sample every oil change (about $20.00 also), and every report has been a glowing endorsement. I try to change every 4k miles, sometimes sooner if I have a trip planned....

+1 for Amsoil..

You can find a Amsoil dealer in the area, or just go to Amsoil.com, sign up as a prefered customer, order what you want, and it will be shipped to your door.

Keith, appears Mike is offline. Don't think he'd mind if I tell yah. I think he lives in Chapleau which is close to your original neck of the woods. Only 2.5 hours from me.
