Not a darn thing. For once, the bike needed no work this winter. Weird. A zip-tie did solve the problem.

Even if it doesn't seem related. So... What did you do to your bike between everything being OK until this problem? Removed the tank? Adjusted the bars or loosened the controls? There has to be a reason for the sudden change.
