I took my longest ride of the season yesterday, taking the opportunity of a beautiful day to ride on a work run. I rode about 180 miles. Mid-stretch, I had my feet on the back edge of the floorboards and was thinking how nice it was to be able to relocate the feet to what amounts to a standard mid-control position. I never had pegs but was putting my feet where they would be and imagining what peg-only would be like. I concluded the floorboards are a great option. All this done to a Pink Floyd (Animals) and Gov't Mule (High & Mighty) soundtrack thru my GPS. A very nice ride on some rural VA roads.
That's all upside.
Downside - if your wife is short, she probably won't be easily able to reach the kickstand tang with the boards in place. I'm 5'11" and I have to make a reach around them. Like I said, I've never had the pegs, but imagine that might be a bit aggravating to shorter stature folks.
