Im looking to fabricate from scratch so the sizes/threads of both ie banjo bolt size , hose size etc etc , thinking about siting them down near the oil filler

If it's any consolation Keith, I thought the same thing so I too have the same affliction and even callouses to prove it. Only on my left hand though which makes it socially acceptable IMHO Ha ha.

Alrighty then, what about those gauges. Don't they do a wonderful job of... gauging?

Having a look at this thread again, I can't even reply to the right bloke. I should have replied to Rob who mentioned his problem, not Keith

Anyway, getting back to the subject staffo (apologies Glen), Whilst I really like what Ian's done which looks great, my only problem with those oil pressure gauges is you have to make a bit of an effort to see them.

Yeah I know, just move your right leg and have a squiz, but having the plug and play oil pressure gauge which has the alloy bracket coming off the right side casing myself, I reckon it's a bit of an "out of sight out of mind thing" which isn't may defeat the purpose of having one if you don't discipline yourself in looking at the thing.

Personally I'd much prefer to have a gauge up where merely a quick glance with your eyes you could see it, but this is only my personal opinion after having had the fitted down model for a while.

This is just my opinion Glen but I reckon the gauge that fits in the steering stem which Fast Eddy sells is probably a better alternative this one cos it's always in view.

Providing of course the handlebars or some other instrument isn't configured in such a way which could obstruct the line of sight, which is quite possible and the problem I have.

Now, regarding the temp gauge that Ian (and I and many others) have, it's also sold by Eddy and just replaces the oil filler cap. It's a little beauty and whilst it too requires it's down on the casing, it's not as important imho to look at as often compared to the pressure gauge. Someone else may disagree but that's how I see it.

Anyway, that's my two cents worth.

Of course, If you don't mind moving your right leg and taking your eyes off the road for a couple of seconds, then what Ian's done would be my next pick and I'm sure he'd give you some good guidance which parts to source and where to get them from cos when you have a look at what parts are involved and where they go, it really is an easy alternative.

I suppose depending on your skills, the only issue may be making a suitable bracket similar to Ian but besides that, you really could save yourself a fair bit going down that path.

It's just options I guess.

Thanks for the input guys .
This is still a work in progress job , gathering a few ideas . Nice job Ian .
Im trying to avoid using the oil FILLER option , For one simple reason , that is I want something different which is why Im going down the selfbuild route . I prefer the clean lines and view above the handle bars so that option is probably dead in the water , got no problem moving either leg . Gonna stare at my bike for a few hours and see if I come up with some options .
Another quickie , has anyone come across one of these . its on ebay uk #350347019295 . Sorry dont know how to put a link on , lifes too short

When you say avoid the filler option,do you mean for the temp gauge? The pressure gauge plug and play attaches close to the filler, not in it.

Sit on your bike and look down where I mounted that gauge,I don't have to move anything or lean and can see it at a glance. I don't actually read it anymore, I just know where the needle should point. I saw another mounting idea I liked where the gauge was mounted up by the intake manifolds. The one from Newspeedmaster mounts up on the top tree if I remember so that is doable if you want to make one for up there. J&P cycles has any and all the braided lines, banjo fittings, and AN3 fittings you could want. They come in different colors and stainless too.

You will need to make a double banjo bolt for the fitting behind the cyl on top of the trans since the banjo there now is 1 1/2 the size of a std. banjo. But is simple 10mm X 1.25 thread. You can avoid that buy pulling the pressure from where the sending unit is for the idiot light. That is std. 1/8" pipe thread if I remember right. I pulled off the banjo because I have both the gauge and idiot light hooked up.

I'm sure I saw a thread somewhere with the gauge placed level with the base of the tank, I remember seeing a video of how to install it as well but cant remember the name of the company that supplies them, if someone knows who they are please let me know.

I think that is the one I mentioned and it was home made.

Here's one from the top. Hope this helps! It's attached to the intake bolt.
