hi, i've browsed the forums but cant find any answers (although im sure its there somewhere)i want to put a bigger (fatter) front tyre on my 06 speedy, can anyone help with what is the bigggest i can go to without any major modifications to front end? many thanks

120/90, but you have to cut the center out of the fender mount bracket

A 130/70 fits without any mods.

The bigger tire feels more solid and planted to me, and it doesn't track in the cracks and grooves in the road nearly as much.

So tell me, where in that flat ol' state of Florida did you find roads that'll get rid of those "chicken strips" for ya, huh?!

I'm surprised you could see the lack of chicken strips past the glare of the reflector!

130/80 fits without mods too, I believe.
That being said, I went with the 120/90 also. Nice and fat.

Hey Dwight- Earthquakes, Mud Slides, Wildfires, State Income Tax, Ocean on the wrong side of the road...What were we talking about again? Oh yeah, riding. No curvy roads, but try slamming through Fort Lauderdale on the back street short cuts. Lots of hard accelerating, braking, greasy right angle intersections, dodging legally blind drivers even older than you...  We have enough to keep things interesting. And then there is the Hand Grenade that is Miami traffic. I think it's fun, but then I am Poquito Loco.

Or raise the fender by adding spacers at the mounting points. It's a nice tire and handles great.

has anyone tried fitting a 200 section tyre? I was wondering what the widest tyre that can be fitted on my speedie is, without having to hack and chop the bike.
EFI Speedmaster, Stainless Ride Slash Cut Silencers. Fly Screen. Oil Temp gauge. Crystal clear headlight. Drilled stem Oval Mirrors. Short Sissy Bar & Rack.

Great thanks! I know Joe asked about handling. How is braking? I find the Speedmaster dual disk easily locks the front.

Inspired again...  I just bought a 130/70 Avon Roadrider instead of the standard to fit to stock rim this weekend... Gregorz, Have you fitted yours backwards? (Rear tyre on the front wheel?) The rubber arrived today and it is a rear fitment, I was just wondering.. ?  Mike.

Mike....not trying to be an alarmist here.... but I was ordering a 130/70 for my Speedmaster today and presented your question to a very knowledgeable Triumph tech and he commented that the rear tire tread "may" disperse water differently than a front tire tread. Hence the difference in tread pattern from front to rear. He advised me not to use the Avon, so I ordered the Dunlop instead. Your milage may vary!

Hi Don  ... I had been thinking the same so I checked with the fitter before fitting the tyre... He advised that 'may' be the case but also that it would alter the profile of the tyre anyway.. I have had experience of fitting oversize tyres on my rice burner  ... I'll drop the tyre pressure by a couple of pounds and it should handle fine... At least it won't 'train' in the road seams... water dispersing was the reason I asked Gregorz about his ... Tyre is fitted now so test will be tues evening when I can get out next...

Thanks Grzegorz, From the close up I noticed yours are a slightly different tyre. I think it confirms though the tyre should tread should be opposite pattern for front to rear. I may have to turn my tyre around now... I'll find out later on... My thought is based on the old avons which were both front and rear fitting, alternative rotation direction... Anyone remember them ? Am I thinking rightly ? Cheers
