I've had a set of long cannons installed for about six years. I've tinkered with removing/adding baffles quite a bit over those years but never heard any kind of whistle. I recently added a GPS/MP3 player so I repacked the baffles with a little more material to tone them down just a touch.
One mod I did early on was adding a wrap of hardware screen around each baffle before inserting. Someone a long time ago posted this helped keep the baffle material from packing down and getting louder.
