(apologies for the delay in replying)
if memory serves (and i'll have to check my bike) i either replaced them with the easternbeaver cable (with one plugging into the 'switch' socket OR i just added his cable direct and cable tied up the excess into a bundle measuring about 3 inches by 6 inches.
I then wrapped that in plastic and inserted that into a tooled leather tube that sits just behind the bug eyes (about the only bit of hard work i did on that one was cutting then re-cutting leather to fit).
It looks pretty discreet and is importantly waterproof.
