Also, whilst I don't know what filters you currently have, Pieman's suggestion to me on the DNA pods as an alternative to K&N's due to my last A/F ratio chart has given me food for thought given the link to Ratnet he also provided. Some of those guys seem to really know their stuff and they back up their results with good research.

I loved the cards in the spokes example from our other John, which I expect would seem to say much of what you're experiencing I would have thought, especially if you do the billet tips cos they look great IMHO.
