I've synched the carbs before with some success with my buddy's mercury stix, but now I have the twin max carb synch tool. Wonder if anyone out there is using this and what they think of it and their experience in doing it.

I looked up the Twin Max Carb Synch Tool on Google and did a bit of research (Having never used it). I'm impressed. It measures/compares two vacuum sources and gives you a meter reading of the difference. No difference = "0" reading. With only one sensor in the loop, there is less chance of error. I don't have any experience with the tool but can't help but think that it would be better than mercury, tubes or vacuum gauges. BTW, are you able to snub or reduce meter fluctuations?

yes you can reduce meter fluctuations via the sensitivity knob. To my understanding once you get equal fluctuations either side of zero you are supposedly synched.

I'm with Iceman on this as I was thinking of ordering the mercury one from Brent. This sounds a little easier and safer. I'm going to be making some adjustments to my carbs, now that my Bubs are on. I want to be sure everything is balanced/synch'd.

I have a twin max. Left over tool from my BMW. It works nice. No mercury to worry about. It is really more tool then we need for the job.
I have used both, the TwinMax and the Mercury tool from Brent. I like the TwinMax best.
Use it just like cbeacher said above - one clause, the higher the sensitivity the closer the sync.

Z, 58 pounds is almost $89. When did you buy yours? I can't remember the last time the British pound was worth about US$1.15? Right now they are charging an extra 7 pounds for the pouch. But thanks for the lead. Good to know about other options. I also like seeing they specifically mention Triumph in their advert.

I've used the TwinMax for the last five years, quick, simple, wouldn't be without it.

I already have a set of vacuum gauges but reading that article and noting how simple the device works as well as virtually no possibility of error, I'd purchase the TwinMax.

Actually I got my mercury tuner from Brent and find it extremely easy to use. So easy in fact, I recheck anytime I make the slightest adjustment to the carb screws. I also found that checking at idle AND at 3500 rpm, where my bike has a slight vibration, makes a noticeable difference. I average between the two readings if different.

That 58 pounds you see is an example and is for the four column tool. Go to the pricing page and you'll see the kit for a dual column w/ pouch for 50 pounds....or $67 U.S. Ive had mine for a couple years now. I sync after every carb mod, at the start of the riding season and any time I hear an odd idle. Multiply that by two bikes and it was well worth the price.

Was hoping someone had used one and would give details on how to use it so I could see if I was doing it right. Don't think my first time did much.
