Hello,

I'm new to the forum, and the world of motorcycles. Until a few days ago, it had been six years since I was even on a bike.

A couple of days ago, I purchased a 2003 BAmerica with less than 6000 miles. The bike is in amazing shape. It has aftermarket exhaust and an aftermarket intake. It also has a tachometer, oil temp. gauge, and a few other misc. items.

I do have a few questions/issues...

First,
you can see the air filter on the right side, but not the left. The left has a plastic, black cover. I am thinking about having holes drilled in the plastic that line up with the holes in the cover. I figure it will allow the left intake to breath as freely as the right one.

Any thoughts on this?

Second,
I have noticed there are times when the motor seems to be choking up; whether it be from fuel or air, I'm not sure. Most of the time, the throttle response is immediate and linear. At times, it bogs down. I took it for a 15 mile highway run at around 60-70 miles per hours. On the way down, I had it in fifth gear and had to downshift into fourth to maintain my speed. The bike slowed to around 50-55 several times even at full throttle in fifth gear. On the way back, there were no issues until I got to my house. I pulled into the driveway and it died. Then, it died again after I pulled it into the garage.

Any thoughts?

I love the bike and hope there aren't any serious issues. I'm taking it back to the shop I bought it from on Monday to see what they say, but they aren't open on the weekends. I wanted to take the bike on a 300 mile round trip tomorrow, but now I am having some doubts.
