After being trapped in three giant snowstorms this spring, all of which closed the interstate highways (my principle mode of going to work) I finally got a chance at a nice ride. Man, I dreamed of this while stranded in Rawlins, Wyoming last week waiting for I-80 to reopen. Today, temps ranging from 65°-80° (F) and sunny, sunny, sunny; my riding buddy and I rode across the mountains to the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee and then back into the Tennessee River Valley. Put in around 200 joy filled miles on the back roads over the river through Stevenson, AL and over the hill to the old grist mill in Old Salem, TN and back. Picked up some stone ground grits, too, for breakfast tomorrow. Life is good. She looks pretty good and I didn't even clean her up, just got on and rode. That's what I'm talkin' about... Sorry Ed, but I'm not buyin' it! Here's what I think. I think you just scanned that picture off the cover of some old sheet music you had layin' around the house of "Down by the Old Mill Stream", and then you posted that here along with this elaborate tale of some long ride you and some friend of yours supposedly took!!! (uh huh...'cause NOBODY'S bike is THAT clean after such a jaunt, dude!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Good for you, Ed. Good to see her out and about in the lovely spring weather. And I have no doubt she was that clean after the ride, or before.

Right on Ed. And while you were doing that I went riding today in a soup of weather systems churning 'round the valleys. Broke my new windshield in with snow a coming down!! Had a good ride though (love the heated vest!).
Live to love, love to live.

You're just bitter because it's so hard to find stone ground grits in LA

It's definitely one of a kind and off the beaten path. The original builders put in a stone ****** about 150 yards upstream of the falls and diverted a sluice of water around the side of the mill through several stone culverts to feed the wheel. Very clever engineering to accommodate the terrain.
You can just see the upper part flow control gate at the right of the stone ******:

the sluice has an overflow escape about 30 feet before the gate that controls the wheel speed:

I think you need more triumph logos on your gas tank. Two per side isn't enough.

Don't take their crap Ed... They're jealous cause the green ones look better. Looks like an amazing place to escape.

Yep Ed, that's true enough. However, I already HAVE found a little diner here in PRESCOTT ARIZONA that serves up a fresh batch of 'em each and every morning!
(...and the owner of the Creek Side Diner even has a hint of a southern drawl too, so ya know they've GOT to be good!!!)

Dwight, You need to ask him if he can fix you up with a little Carolina coastal specialty dish known as "Shrimp 'N Grits"...sounds terrible but man-o-man is it ever good. Quote:

Bubba Gump= Bayou le Batre, Alabama However, the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant chain is based closer to you in San Clemente, CA. The best Shrimp and Grits on the planet can be found at the three Boathouse restaurants in Charleston, SC...my fave is the one on the Isle of Palms. Mmmmmmm, good.

The south is beautiful. but so is your ride. Love the tan bags and saddle on the green tin, clasic.
