After fitting my new Triumph Footboards to my '09 America, my smile didn't seem quite wide enough. Seems my toes always ended up squished into the bow of my boots. Reason being, the stock footboard angle is too flat, leaving my toes pointing too far down for comfort. Using a die grinder and carbide bit I elongated the two small locating pin holes, one in each mount bracket, to rotate the toe of the boards upwards a few degrees. This placed my foot at an exact right angle to my leg, much better circulation and comfort. Elongate the right side hole (roll pin) downward, and the left side hole (behind the small chrome bolt) upward, each approx 1/4 inch. Then rotate the board toes up and refasten the large allen bolts etc. It's easier if you remove the footboards first. The difference in comfort is remarkable.

I was just looking mine over and wondering how to do something like that myself...How does it feel with your shifting? Still get your foot under it comfortably? I notice you don't have a heel toe shifter.

As we see in the bottom image, I have removed the rear peg from my heel/toe shifter arm to give me more options for foot positions on the footboard while riding, to relieve cramps, etc., and the rear peg just got in the way. I upshift with my heel bearing down about midway of the rear arm, and downshift by pressing down with my toe on the front peg. You do need to adjust the shifter rod carefully to ensure full engagement of the trans while shifting, but it does work well - shifting is quicker and more positive.

Thought I was going a bit crazy after Laurie's post. In one picture there's a heel-toe shifter, in another it's gone!! Phew... glad you explained things Daniel, saved me some anxiety!

Btw... I like what you did to make those floorboards work better for you. Very innovative, like something Triumph should have done in the first place. I mean, not everyone's the same, right?

Reminds of of a quote from Monty Python's Life of Brian, where Brian's addressing the crowd beneath his window...

[Brian] You're all individuals!
[Crowd, in unison] Yes! Yes! We're all individuals!
[Individual, at rear of crowd] I'm not!

As we are not all the same, DON'T make Triumph make it a mod for them all...

I do have tiny feet (I think I'm a US ladies size 6) and long legs (my work trousers are 32" inside leg). For me the 'boards as they are are fine. Very comfy, and right for me.

Yeah tell everyone about the mod, it's easy to alter something but you can't make holes smaller that easily...

Gina 03 America - Pretty stock - except the TBS wheel... 06 America - missing, presumed in bits. With it's TBS wheel... 09 America - It's very blue....

Precisely. I suggest a 'grind and test' method, to assure you don't take out too much metal and overadjust the angle. Always I take great care to make all my mods reversible. In this case, since you are grinding away some chrome plating, keep your good eye open for rusting in that area, or maybe a dab of silver paint to seal the wound.
