I have a very small picture of me in my BA.com gallery taken on my 750 Tiger back when I was YOUR age, and you look just as proud and carefree as I remember I was "back then." Amazingly quickly, I am now 30 years older and still riding a Triumph. As the years pass, you may gravitate to other brands, but you will always remember your first bike, your first love, your first Triumph. All Jaffa Caking aside, I wish you many miles of accident free and fun travels on your new BA. And when you are my age, may you still be riding Triumphs and in good health. Hooah! P.S. Now, about those Jaffa Cakes...

let me first say WELCOME!!! then i want to say, the only stupid question is the one that wasnt asked. look up the performance section and see to it that you have done the mods that make this bike awsome ie; carb tweek, intake adjustments, and exhust. other than that stuff, its all your preferance. Also DO try and get to the Ga. rally, its always a good time with some incredable roads to ride, some and i stress the word some (hahahahaha) of the guy's are the greatest guy's you will ever meet(and those that arnt know who they are hahahahaha) the couple who sponser the rally have guitars and on sat night we tend to eat, drink, jam, and alot of B.S. All the questions about your bike can get answered and we usually spend an afternoon doing a little (minor) wrenching like carb tweeking, chain lube and adjust stuff like that. check the upcomeing ride section and you will see where we all stay and get more insite. be sure and check brents site also because thats where you will find all the little chrome goodies you want. also its nice to see you are a smart guy, i can tell cuz you bought the right color hahahaha
ENJOY!!!!! NEWT!!!!!

Nice to see that you are fitting in and talking to the group already. I was 18 when I bought my first Triumph, a 69TR6 which was simply a single carb version of the Bonneville. Your picture brought back memories of pics of me on my brand new bike. Tide safe, don't ride above what you think you can do. TR

I'm going to try and make to GA. We'll see about getting out of work and thinking of an excuse to tell the girlfriend! Any suggestions there would be appreciated.

My best suggestion is to get as many miles under your belt as you can.
GA is a long way but there are others going from your neck of the woods. Hook up with them.

Mark, thers a whole lot of old guys on here giving you a ton of advise, but be careful here.
There is some info we need to know before we can pass any kind of judgement here. How long have you had this girlfriend. This is essential info.
If she is a realtively new girlfriend, then the solution is easy. "Sweetheart, im going out. See you on tuesday"
If she is a long term girlfreind then things arent quite so simple. A little bit if begging always goes down well. Jewelry often works, as does painting and decorating and of course, the dreaded Yard Work
Now if its a wife....then forget it. you aint going.
Unless you been married for years, then she gives you the gas money.

Better still.......BRING HER WITH YOU. Nothing like a thousand mile ride with your lady to bring you closer. Wait....that may make things worse. Guys? Suggestions? Phil, I know you'd want your lady with you.......

Been together for a year...so there's still the whole "quality time" factor involved. But on the other hand, I really don't think she'd want to be sitting on the back of my bike for 1000 miles...her hair might get messed up...or if the dreaded happened...it rained a bit.

Oooh, 1000 miles on the back of a Bonnie. Emm, could be a sore point. I can see where that may create a little friction.
Seems to me you have no choice. She needs a bike of her own.

If she doesn't want to ride on the back, then you might have the OK to do by yourself. If she really wants to go and NOT ride on the back, there is always the option she can drive the cage as a backup in case someone runs outa gas BTW, don't let her read all this, you may never get out of the dog house

Where's the rally in PA? I've taken multiple trips from NYC to central PA.

Hi Mark, I just joined this forum and am getting a 05 TBA next Friday. I read that you have the Triumph off road shorties and I was wondering how they sound?

Hi Mark: Welcome aboard. The guys and gals on this site are the greatest and very helpful. I am an old guy (64), but like you fairly new to riding bikes. My SpeedMaster is my first bike and I could not have picked a better machine. I am approaching 10,000 miles on mine now. I never had so much fun going places. I just bought a new car last December and it was like going to the grocery store and getting something. I did not have the feelings that I use to when buying a new car, but when I bought my new bike I can't discribe the excitment. I still have that excitement each time I ride. Enjoy your bike and this wonderful site. Dave
