If you use any RTV around electrical components, be sure that it's approved for that use.
Regular RTV emits acetic acid (that vinegary smell) as it cures and can cause serious problems (corrosion) of electrical items. Especially in electronic applications where tiny amounts of amperage and millivolts are involved; perfect connections are critical.
