I was wondering what the particulars are when buying used parts out of Canada. For example, suppose a person wanted to buy some carbs for a motorcycle from someone on ebay who lived in Canada. What kind of import duties and taxes might he expect to pay? Based your actual experience, any advice? Thanks!

Don't know what it's like getting stuff from here, but know when I send stuff down there I'll always write used motorcycle parts and use the postal system rather than ups or fedex.

I think its more of an issue to ship parts form the US to Canada vs. Canada to US.
The US doesn't tag us for extra taxes and such like every other country.

Okay Guys, I appreciate the input. You've been very helpful. I'm gonna take a stab at it and buy some experience. I hope it doesn't cost too much. Thanks

Hey Doc PC
I can tell you fo' sho' that a Canadian shipper (company or individual) CANNOT charge you our federal GST (Goods and Services Tax 5%) nor can they charge you PST (Provincial Sales tax). There should be no taxes. Like Marty said, don't use UPS - ask them to ship CanadaPost or CanPar. I've also heard shipping by Greyhound Lines is really cheap but I don't have any first-hand experience. Good luck. Pedro
